HER-STORY: The TFC History
Thriving Filipina Circle is an organization founded by Joanna Katrina Ramos, aimed at advocating for women's empowerment. The organization's inspiration was to help women step up, share, and empower each other, which was brought to life on May 20, 2022. The organization focuses on helping women in the Philippines, and it was believed that they need to start with their own country and culture. The shared language and culture of Filipinas make it easier for them to be comfortable with each other.
The first batch of members consisted of fifteen women, including Babylyn Buchan, Camille Castillo, Candice Issac, Liz Edquiban, Fe Barrientos, Edez Maranan, Karen Al Debs, Cristal Tayo, Feby Baguisa, Heidi Maloloyan, Jenny Cantos, and Roxane Montemayor. When the founder presented the idea, they felt that Joanna was very passionate about it. Internally, the organization has experienced a smooth flow, and there were no challenges. However, the organization faced external negativity, which was overcome through the collective efforts of its members.
Over time, Thriving Filipina Circle has grown significantly, and a new Abu Dhabi chapter was established. The organization has impacted its target audience and the broader community positively. Members have shared stories of good things that have happened within the group, including success stories such as promotions, leaving jobs to start businesses, small wins, and network building. The organization promotes inclusivity and celebrates the success of its members.

Message from the Founder
As a Filipina entrepreneur in the UAE, I felt the weight of our
negative stereotype and feared being judged by others. This
insecurity led me to invest in myself and work with a coach.
Through my collaboration with Emma Burdett, founder of WILD
(Women in Leadership Deliver), I experienced a significant
transformation in all aspects of my life. I realized the value of self-
awareness and developed into a better version of myself. Emma
became my role model and trusted support, helping me discover
my sense of identity and encouraging me to establish my own
female network: Thriving Filipina Circle.
My personal growth and development inspired me to create a
community that would help other Filipinas in the UAE experience
the same transformation. I believe it's essential for Filipinas to be
part of a female network like TFC, where we can learn from one
another, lift each other up, and equip ourselves with the right
mindset to succeed. TFC also serves as a platform for us to stand
up against discrimination and gender inequality in society.
Giving back to this community fills my heart with joy and gratitude,
knowing that TFC has changed countless lives and touched the
hearts of many. I'm incredibly grateful for the women who support
TFC and believe in our mission to empower Filipinas in the UAE.
